Following the success of the Vietnam-Taiwan Symposium on Advanced Aquaculture Technology series, Nha Trang University and National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) are jointly organizing the 5th International Symposium on Marine Science and Technology (MFST 2025) at Nha Trang University, Vietnam, from March 27-28, 2025. This event is a step forward the development and expansion of cooperation between the two universities in the field of marine science and fisheries technology.
More than 185 delegates, including over 35 international delegates from Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, India, etc. and 150 domestic delegates have registered to participate in the symposium.
MFST 2025 is a prestigious forum that gathers leading researchers, scholars, and experts in the field of marine and fisheries science and technology, and sustainable economic activities. The symposium provides an opportunity for scientists to present and share breakthrough research, exchange ideas, and discuss solutions to current challenges in the marine industry. The symposium has received nearly 100 papers from related fields, including 62 oral presentations and 35 poster presentations.
The keynote speakers of the symposium are reputable scientists with many outstanding research works in the field of marine science and technology:
- Prof. Ming-An Lee, Vice President of National Taiwan Ocean University, presenting on the topic "Stakeholder Perspectives on Climate Change Impacts: A Comparative Study of Small-Scale Fisheries in India, Papua New Guinea, and Taiwan."
- Prof. Marco Abbiati, Professor at the University of Bologna, Italy - Science and Technology Counselor, Embassy of Italy in Hanoi, presenting on the topic "Integrative Approaches to Monitor Biodiversity Changes for the Conservation of Urbanized Areas along the South-Central Coast of Vietnam."

At the symposium, researches will share their latest researches in 6 main areas, including: (1) Aquaculture Technology; (2) Marine Environment and Climate Change adaptation; (3) Sustainable Fishing and Conservation of Marine Resources; (4) Seafood Processing and Post-Harvest; (5) Marine Infrastructure, Transportation, and Smart Aquaculture; (6) Green Marine Economy and Tourism. All accepted papers will be published in the electronic symposium proceedings. Excellent papers will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Marine Science and Technology (JMST) (NTOU, SCIE, Q3) or the Journal of Fisheries Science and Technology (NTU, ISBN).
In addition to the main program, the Symposium also organizes booths to display products, showcasing and introducing the latest products and technologies in the maritime and fisheries fields, creating opportunities for organizations and businesses to introduce products and seek cooperation opportunities in this industry. On this occasion, the two universities also established high-level working sessions on the sidelines of the symposium to promote new cooperation activities in training and joint research projects.
